How a new knee Looks after Knee Replacement.
The knee joint is where the thigh bones the leg bone (shin bone) and kneecap meet. Normally these are lined by smooth stress absorbing Cartilage that lets the bones move smoothly. Arthritis can cause the cartilage to wear away.
Arthritis be caused by any of the following
- Wear & tear from years of constant use (osteoarthritis).
- A chronic illness (inflammatory arthritis)
- An old injury that did not heal properly (post-traumatic arthritis)
AS shown in the picture understanding the knee joint can help you see how exercising ahead of time aids your recovery. During the surgery all, part of your damaged knee joint will be replaced with artificial joint (prosthesis). This can reduce pain and stiffness. In time you should be able to return to activities that have become painful.

An artificial knee joint has two pieces that fit over the ends of the bones. The third piece fits under your kneecap. Together they form a smooth functioning.
